About Me

Hello! I am Der-Ting Huang, a PhD candidate in Business Administration, specializing in International Business and Strategy, at Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

My research interests center around the interplay between firm strategy and external environment in an international context. I explore how firms leverage their global strategy in institutional environments shaped by international economic agreements, industry agglomeration, and competitive actions of industry peers.

My job market addresses two particular questions: (1) Can multinationality substitute for the role of local agglomerations? (2) How do varying resource dimensions of multinationality differently affect its potential substitutive ability? My dissertation has been awarded the Strategy Research Foundation (SRF) Will Mitchell Dissertation Grant and Taiwanese Overseas Pioneers Grants (TOP Grants) for Dissertation. I am on the 2024-2025 academic job market and available for interviews at AIB Seoul and AOM Chicago this year.

Before joining the PhD program, I earned a BBA in International Business from National Chengchi University in Taipei and an MA in Economics from Columbia University in the City of New York.
